Class 2

Class 2's Charter for 2020 -2021

In Class 2 we have a combination of Year 1 and 2 children taught by one full-time teacher - Miss Sara Huntlea. The children are also supported in their daily learning by Educational Teaching Assistants. The  routine in Class 2 involves the children quietly entering school at 8.45 to carefully wash their hands prior to starting their Early Morning Tasks. We are then ready to learn the National Curriculum Spellings supported by Read Write Inc which is our exciting phonics scheme..

All the children follow the National Curriculum and in May 2021 the Year 2 children will take their SAT's (Standard Attainment Targets) tests and tasks in Reading Comprehension and Maths. The Year 1 children will have been prepared for the phonics screening test wich takes place in June 2021.

We believe that with everyone working together as a team, we can ensure that each individual child reaches their full potential in a secure environment.

In Class 2 the children are encouraged to -

  • Learn the essential knowledge, skills and understanding of a broad range of curriculum subjects.
  • Engage with their learning so that they remain committed to learning throughout their school careers and beyond.
  • Develop the personal qualities they need to be good citizens in an ever-changing world.
  • Develop a sense of their own nationality and culture at the same time as developing a profound respect for the nationalities and cultures of others.

The children have collaborated to create a Class Charter for this year which is displayed in Class 2 and reminds us about being respectful towards each other.

To find out more about Class 2 please have a look at our learning letters and also the curriculum map. Both can be found under the classes tab.
